Secretariat .....The Super Horse

This is to commemorate all that Secretariat did for racing. Secretariat (March 30, 1970 ? October 4, 1989) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse. Secretariat won the 1973 Triple Crown, becoming the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years Secretariat was out of the dam Somethingroyal and sired by Bold Ruler, a grandson of Nearco. He was born at Meadow Farm in Caroline County, Virginia. Owned by Penny Chenery, he was trained by Canadian Lucien Laurin and ridden by fellow Canadian jockey Ron Turcotte.

Steroids....gimme a break! This magnificent animal was a freak (i use that kindly) of nature. He was a perfect speciman, along with the larger heart he also had a greater lung capacity than most thoroughbreds which means more oxygen delivered to the muscles by the larger heart. He also stood at least 4" over his opponents. Steroids would not have added height or lung capacity. 2:24 and 31 lengths is not steroids...its zues' horse Pegasus :-)

@Dannykeith46 Great facts & stats:-) Most people don't understand the importance of the most supernatural creature that ever lived. Secretariat WAS the miracle. Humans pale in comparison. And that stands for all humans...(smile) NO ONE will ever see a miracle like this again. And, thanks to your irrefutable facts...it never has. People think of him as just a horse. I don't. Something was so supernaturally special about him on EVERY level...it goes beyond words. Magnificent perfection!

@cmf4321 - What I always found truly amazing is that the 3 TC races cover over 140 years, 420+ races and approx. 3,500+ horses and for ONE HORSE to own all 3 records is IRREFUTABLE proof that Secretariat is the greatest horse EVER...period!!! Carefully think about that last sentence and what it really means..while IMPOSSIBLE..it is a FACT...and throw in some of his other miraculous races like the Marlbro Cup, Man o' War, his unparalleled times & it all leads to the "best of the rest"!!!
