WHOMPS! It's raining outside in New York (JFK) very hard, such as hail, maybe the airport runway may be slippery.... The Qantas flight QF108 will take-off the runway (after sundown when outside is dark) to Los Angeles first before resuming fly to Sydney as nonstop flight... It's about 24 hours long flight!!!

@royal311 is it a 747?
-
the aircraft engines can ingest 21,000 liters of water per second at full thrust, it was the lightning and low clouds that kept the aircraft grounded
-
I don't understand why they have planes leave the terminal if weather conditions are projected to be bad.
-
did you take off anyway?
-
is this a boeing 747??
-
nice, you got on Wunala Dreaming
-
I guess that would clear the fog

yes we did, after a very long wait of nearly 2 hours. Not long after this video was taken the captain turned the engines off, and we just sat there for about an hour before the aircraft moved again. The airport was closed for some time.
