Well, folks. Rufus may be a singer and songwriter in his own right. So - why then isn´t he sticking to his own stuff and STOP bore us as a Judy Garland wanna be? Don´t get me wrong - nothing against queens! But he´s not even NEAR Judy!
And just for the record: This isn't even in the same stratosphere as my favorite RW performance...it's just that I happened to notice all the injustly inaccurate comments about him and felt this need to voice my insignificant opinion. If you think he can't sing watch some of his live but smaller performances like the ones obviously from TV (Dinner at Eight, Go or Go Ahead)...or listen to an album. It may be "studio" but it's still him & still as rich & somber as honey. His voice like a cello.
Opinions are always valid, albeit, some may require more tact. So, here's mine: Rufus Wainwright is an incredibly gifted songwriter & singer & there are very few artists, especially now, that can write like him. "Want One" was truly an undeniably gorgeous album. And it makes me kind of sad that there are people who get so lost in the delivery that they lose/miss the point. Criticizing Rufus' singing is like judging the brush strokes of Van Gogh. Step back & listen & you'll hear the masterpiece.
YUCK! He can't even sing on pitch! Isn't singing supposed to start with that, and then everything else follows? Also, I'm amazed that NO ONE has mentioned that Rufus's vocal sound is a dead-on rip-off of Peter Allen, Liza MInelli's (Judy's daughter) first husband. Compare the two, and you'll hear it. For real.
Hmmm... Well... I was just looking to see if there was a date listed for this performance and scrolled down and saw all this garbage posted by some old tired jealous bitch queens. Really, Rufus is hot and talented no matter how someone wants to critique him. He is selling records and selling out concert halls and YOUR not! lol Didn't your mamma ever tell you, "If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say nothing at all"? Sheez! Go fabulous Rufus!
I just can't help it .I like everything he does.
