  • Doens't the HX5V only go up to 1080i?

  • @Muscleduck No, in mp4 format is records in 1080p (30fps), in AVCHD it can do 1080i (60fps)

  • Very nice job.I know that there is 2 versions of the HX5V , one with 50i and another with 60i for AVCHD, How to know the one with 60i? But your raw files gives me 30 frames in file info and not 60 , have you recompress it? or maybe because it s intelaced ?

  • @Maximilianovor mp4 mode is 30p, AVHCD mode is 60i.... These are out of camera, not recompressed (by me)

  • Hi there, do you recommend this camera?

I want a compact camera which maintains satisfying quality but without the hassle of a DSLR.

  • Does this come with the Sweep Panorama? Will all the photos taken with Sweep Panorama limited to the small wide size or can it be expanded into normal size?

  • @matsf Aren't those exactly the same thing?

  • Can you set the white balance in video mode?(different types of light or custom)

  • is this camera better than the dsc-hx1 ?

  • @Maximilianovor

Thank you for the info, helped me a lot.

  • @DesignerDigital in avchd it uses 60i means interlaced , in mp4 it uses 30p means progressive.

In theory progressive is better giving a full frame image and interlaced give an half frame image , but now HDTV deinterlace very well and you don t notice these diferences. So better is using the 60i having more fluid motion and video stabilization and 30p gives you more a full frame , great for editing.

What influence more the file size is the video bitrate and not necessary the frame rate.

  • @Maximilianovor

I know my tv is 120hz, i guess i shouldn't be expecting much more from a photo cam, but, 1080 looks great and it's acceptable.. But please explain me something about, mp4 mode being 30, and avchd 60, i know more more frames might means twice in size.

  • @DesignerDigital I understand why , in Europe and for some countries it uses PAL and it is 50i , in US and some countries it uses NTSC it is 60i. I think it s because of the 50hz and 60hz tv , but now having 100hz or more tv.

I think for the fluid motion video it would be the same result , having 50i or 60i it will be the same .It is just a question of numbers and norms.

  • How do i know what version it is?... Im looking at this site, could you help me out?
