Official Language of Ghana is English.
However, to many Ghanains it is learned from scratch as a second and sometimes third language. For people who have to learn english from scratch, Ghanians speak and write english more properly and well than most american and europeans. But about Atta Mills, JJ will take him out and put his wife in his place as he gains power all over again you watch

If Im wrong a Ghanaian will possibly interrupt;) Akan is been used my the majority of ppl in Accra and Ashanti Region (Ga and Twi). But most ppl do understand Akan.
Netherless Ghana was a British colony untill 1957 (1960 they bacame a republic) that means they have adopted some of the British system for instance the language. English is the official language of Ghana. Ghana has a lot of different languages, English is the one language most ppl understand and by so unite them. So they speak both
