First test run of my new Armortek "all metal" 1/6th scale Panther. The extra weight of these "all metal" kits really makes the suspension work as it should.

  • there is missing a bit on the side. has it been shot or something?

  • @uniravers Well spotted, quite often you'll see genuine wartime footage of Panther tanks with one or more of the side skirts missing, I think it gives it a more authentic look.

  • The gun looks much too thin.

  • Don't forget the Panther is fitted with the 75mm long barrel, do a Google images search, you'll see the proportions of this 1/6th scale barrel are correct. All the dimensions were taken from a genuine tank in a local museum.

  • That is one beautiful machine, congratulations, how much did you pay for it?

  • Thanks, The kits start at just under £3000.00 (Pounds Sterling), this might seem expensive compared to your average model but these are above average models.

  • @Tiger332 These " Skirts" were a quick countermeasure to the hollow charge weapons ( magnetic Grenades and things like the PIAT , Bazooka and Panzerfaust ) .

Detonating these warheads before they hit the main armor was the aim .

Most tanks from mid 1943 were already overweight ( thickened armour in response to bigger guns) so these things were lightweight and easily torn off in service use .

Interesting to see the Allies tanks in iraq/Afghanistan resorting to skirts again because of RPGs .

  • @Tiger332 the reason it has some missing is because it would make the "Panther" slower so the Nazis would keep some off

  • can you convert this into a Jagdpanther.

  • So i was looking prizes for 1/4th scale tanks and i was like :O... "so now i have to drive to work with meh tank :P" :O

  • @Tiger332 u should put out the 2nd skirt, not the middle. it'd look prettier. does the main gun work?

  • My buddy wants a panther and I want a tiger 1. Just wish we could afford them !

  • Я думаю деньги не зря потраченны!!

  • Looks awesome! How does it compare to Mark Spencer's Mk1 tanks..? I have some 1/16th Tamiya's but these are something else
