Testing my new "commuter car" in the neighborhood.
Got this car for a song. It arrived on a trailer after not running for more than a decade. Last date of registration on the plates was 1987.
I had it running within one hour of tinkering.

Look up under your drivers side instrument panel, up against the firewall where the battery cable passes through. If yours has the manual fresh air vents, it will be just in front of and above this vent.

There should be a plastic coated cable with a small loop in the end. This is an emergency hood latch release for just the situation you have experienced.

  • I have the same car. My hood release cabe broke and I cant open the hood. Im thinking of maybe a wire thru to where the latch is and hooking the release mechinism . Wondering if you could do a vid so i can see the latch as to where to go with the wire. Or maybe you can figure it out and do a vid on it. Thanks man!...Robert
