The engine might have come out of a CJ-5 or something. I'm pretty sure Willys put them in some jeeps in the late 60's or early 70's i'm sure it would be an easier fit in a cj-5 though. haha, yeah, i'm REALLY into the old 20's looking syle. i was looking at an an older catapillar forklift the other day, and engine looked so similar to the 134 engine in my willys. I think its a decendant of it. :) Running off of propane though.

  • @tommartyn Mine is on original axles and running gears, my dad used to drive it hunting at 60 MPH, on the highway. Getting everything to fit under the hood with a v6 is hell. Half of the accelerator linkages are home made, the radiator is a wide, space-waster and the air intake looks like something from a 1920's car, trying to find something else. Now that I've looked, I have very little idea what this engine came out of, I think it's called a Buick 'Fireball' or something.

The top speed you want to drive these at without hurting the engine is about 45 MPH. this things original engine was blown in 70 when my one uncle borrowed it from his brother, and drove it up the road doing 60...

I ran into a guy with a CJ-2A at a gas station the one night, and he put a buick v6 in that one, and said he did it for a higher top speed. He said he could do (if he wanted to) 70 with that engine. we went up the road, looked back and he was flying up on us :) stock axles

  • What's your top speed with that engine? I have a 47 with a 68 Buick V6 in it.. No idea what my top speed is, though..

  • Whew, what a GREAT job. I did one and then had a 16yr old whose momma was unemployed/welfare hit me; bent frame. As a poor college kid at the time, I only had liability. Time to fix it!

Does anyone know where to get a good unaltered CJ3A frame? Please let me know where, (website would be great if it's a business, or post your video of it if it's a personal item). Please let me know how much it is, and where it would be shipped from so shipping pricing can be figured out.

    Thanks so much!
