  • As I wrote before, I do not remain easily impressed. At 57, I have seen a lot of inventions, but none have matched yours. You appear to be a genius at heavy minerals concentration. As a school teacher (ex) I know everyone is gifted in varied areas. You have done it again. Congrates.

Please keep experimenting, my friend. Something else will come to mind.

Australia has always been a good friend of the US. We have always thought of you guys as brothers.

  • John,

I just admire my rotapan that goes into the top of the 5 gallon bucket. I think it is the neatest 21st century heavy mineral concentrator the world has seen. It is especially useful out here in the desert.

As you say in your neat country,CHEERS, MATE. You must be one heck of a mechanical engineer. I never took physics in my university degree, but have lots of mathematics under my belt. Engineers like you make life fun. Thanks buddy.

  • I've got one of these & it's excellent except for one thing. The mesh in the top section is too large for the area I pan & sluice in. The gravel is a lot smaller than what you had, & most of it ends up in the bucket, filling it up too quick. I had to make a slip in piece of smaller mesh to stop this happening. But overall it works great.

  • The mesh is about right - if you go to a smaller mesh, the rate of production slows down dramatically. The rotapan can process 10 times the rate of the standard panning dish and your time is important. Why would you bother slowing it down to grab the odd speck of gold - even if you lost 1/10 of the gold available, you would go home at the end of the day with nine times more gold. Point to remember, it takes 1000, 50 micon flakes of gold to make $3 - don't get succered by the colour. John

  • thanks mate for making these things, got mine a year ago and its great for areas when gold is fine and thin in the soil. go through so much in a day compared to just panning. made my trips out just that little bit more worth while.

  • i was just messing around with a pickaxe in my back yard and i found a pice of gold about this big -------- or longer!!!!!!

  • How would this work for extracting from Carlin-Trend Area, Nevada ore?

  • those grab handles need to be a little taller.

  • very sharp idea very portable compact unit a half a dozen of those units in a rich area = nice nest egg. will it hold flour gold if it is classified? here in pa i run a blue bowl and the gold is so fine i clasify it w/ a reusible coffee filter than into the bb peace
