  • Oh wow! The good stuff just keeps coming! Thank you Derek and thank you Ariel!

  • Fazowiec, I've got to tell you there is a way to largely do what your asking. You have to be DANG good. REAL good. I intentionally bypass about 90% of the common gimmicks; I don't "work" myspace, I don't have an email list (although that may change), I seldom, seldom, seldom ever even show my face online. BUT I am VERY prolific and I always think about the listener first. I find myself as a musician, through others first. Thats how I've sold THOUSANDS and am still doing it everyday:)

  • Another must have book is called: "Free Guerilla Marketing" by Jay Conrad Levinson

Jay is known as the master of small business marketing and it would be very easy to turn his general ideas into A+ stuff for a musician.

BTW: I saw Watchmen and thought it was pretty cool.

    ~Marcus:)

  • nice:)

  • I've been watching the series from the start and I enjoy it a lot, but I've a hard time with some of the advice: what am I to do, if music is in fact all I do? What if I don't have a non-musical angle? Some mention of this should be given - something like Derek's comment, only stronger.

One other niggle: the Long Tail? Even Anderson backed out of that one, after research showed that the idea is economically unsound and has no basis in reality.

  • Thanks, for the series guys, have watched all of them so far. Really informative stuff and it's good to here your perspectives. Please keep them coming going to have to rate and comment on all episodes when i have collected my thought :P
