Royal Garden Blues by Edmond Hall's Blue Note Jazz Men on a 12" 78 rpm Blue Note record. Over 4 minutes of lively jazz featuring Big Sid Catlett on drums and James P Johnson on piano. Recorded in 1943. Enjoy!

  • The trumpet solo in this tune has some resemblance to the Dipper Mouth Blues trumpet solo.

  • It's amazing how "modern" James P. Johnson sounds.

  • I never knew that Blue Note Records also recorded Traditional Jazz. His "RVG"-reissues only contain late Bop, Hard Bop and a bit of Soul Jazz. Anyway, great stuff.
