Nope, defiantely not the reason. Proper ear plugs/setup etc etc., he could play louder than he ever has without effect....
He just likes his curret (past deacede) crap electric tone for some reason.. fair enough but it's useless to make silly excuses for it, no one buys them.... :-)

This has been brought to his attention in more than one interview I've read , and he considers his old rigs TOO LOUD ! He drags them out once in a blue moon , and has to put them away immediately due to ear pain ...

Someone should take away Pete's strato..
He electric sound have been so freakishly weak and thin during past decade. Just don't have IT unlike his previous guitar/amp combos
