  • I agree with Renee not being a coloratura, however, she wont ruin her voice because she does have the range and technique to sing this. Its all of the teenagers out there who think they can take on a song like this that are going to ruin their voice. Kristen Chenoweth does amazingly, but Diana Damrau will forever be the coloratura of my heart, Kristen is a musical theater girl and thats the stuff she owns at.

  • Yes, but it's incredible how she's able to sing this so well!!

What a surprise! Sure this is not for her voice, but not many lyric sopranos are able of this agility and coloratura... and high notes! Only Fleming!! I'm so proud of her... (emotion in my voice)

  • Tutto avrei potuto credere meno che potesse cantare così bene quest'aria. Bravissima!

  • @toobusywriting This was recorded at the end of the 1990's. To those who think she's "going to ruin her voice" singing coloratura -- well, she's been singing coloratura for more than ten years and hasn't ruined her voice yet...

  • @tndipinto I agree, but I must defend for myself as a 18 year old. I've been training in opera for 6 years. I realize that's not as long as I need for perfection, I sang this song for an audition for the part of Olympia in the opera Tales D'Hoffmann and I got a standing ovation, my teacher says I have good technique, but singing isn't what I'm majoring in professionally, I'm not worried about losing my voice, though I think if I take care of my voice, I won't lose it.

  • I LOVE SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH RENEE...BUT I AM AGREE THAT "GLITTER AND BE GAY" ISN'T FOR HER VOICE.

  • Coloratura-1. The ornamentation of music written for the voice with florid passages, especially trills and runs.

    2. Vocal music characterized by florid ornamental passages.

    3. A singer, especially a soprano, specializing in such ornamentation.

Her repertoire definitely proves she is a coloratura. The timbre of her voice is heavier than most coloratura sopranos but to say she's not a coloratura is erroneous.

  • I still like the way Kristin Chenoweth sings this just a little better...more character and you can actually understand her...at least i can

  • 2012 she's playing San Diego! so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @toobusywriting 1998. It's from the album "I Want Magic" with The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra conducted by Levine. It contains American opera arias from the 20th century.

  • she won't ruin her voice.. but chenoweth blows everyone out of the water.. love the subrete
