Lovely homage to a wonderful song/singer. One more testimony to the way everyone has felt about someone in his/her life. Thanks, Prince, for rendering Joni and Yourself in a fine light. As tempting as it is to compare with the original, nobody is going to get the perfect combination of beautiful technique and relxed intimacy of Joni's delivery. What Prince does is make a soul song out of it. It works and stands on its own merits. There are many situations where this treatment would work better than the original's. Prince certainly carries this version off with consumate skill. A very enjoyable cover!
