It seems to have potential, if the lubricity is indeed better. It definately needs some improved testing (long term) it is confusing as to why the 20% blend would have the best fuel economy as opposed to either straight ULSD or the 50/50 blend. It makes me wonder what the exact paramaters of the test are? It is really good to see it has good lubricity and energy properties.

Good questions. I spoke with the CIO at SunEco and he confirms what other algae biodiesel people have said (and tests show) that algae biodiesel is virtually indistinguishable from petroleum diesel on a performance level. However, the algae biodiesel has numerous environmental benefits. Also, algae biodiesel would cost less than 50% than diesel at today's price of about $55 per barrel of oil.

Second, "B100" could be used instead of a blend. The reason that the blend was used was to simulate actual conditions right now (where there wouldn't be a sufficient supply of algae biodiesel to meet everyone's full needs), so the biodiesel would be used to extend the availability of traditional diesel.
