I had a form of osteosarcoma as well. It was in my right tibia. I still have my leg thanks to Dr. Greenly at the UW hospital. He gave me a bone resection which unfortunately didn't take, then I got a bone graft which was a very slow recovery process. It worked! I can walk, ski, ride a bike and even a motorcycle. Having a bone tumor is a very scary thing, but be strong and know that lots of people have made it through.
I had osteosarcoma when I was 15. I am now 34 yrs old and can still walk... sometimes I need a cane for support. I initially had a distal femur allograph (dead person's bone) put in.. but it never held up. In 2000 I had a total knee replacement done and it has been great so far (knock on wood). Any kid going through this today I say... stay strong in the faith according to the Bible. Don't hang out with negative people and LIVE STONG! - Omar Perez
