A wide-open group of ten three-year-old fillies lead the way in Friday's Dashing Folly Handicap, a race named in honor of the 1996 undefeated World Champion.

The Dashing Folly Handicap is named in honor of the sensational First Down Dash mare who enjoyed an undefeated season on the way to winning World Champion honors in 1996. Trained by Donna McArthur for Jaramar Ltd., Dashing Folly won her first couple of starts in '96 away from Los Alamitos before arriving here later in the year to sweep everything in her path. Ridden by Tami Purcell, Dashing Folly began her Los Alamitos campaign with a win in the Town Policy Handicap. She would later score in the Vandy's Flash Handicap while also defeating older mares in the Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap. Dashing Folly won the 400-yard Los Alamitos Derby in a then record time of :19.57 before sealing her World Champion credentials with a victory in the Champion of Champions. Trainer Justin Clark will saddle one horse each in Friday's Dashing Folly and in Saturday's Corona Chick Handicap. Jimmy Delivers and Blue Piranha, the second and third place finishers in the restricted Grade 1 Governor's Cup Futurity earlier this year, meet again when they headline a contentious group of 2-year-olds in Saturday's $25,000 Corona Chick Handicap at 400 yards.
EG High Desert Farms' Jimmy Delivers made an impact right from the start this year when winning three of his first four starts. Then, on California Breeders Champions Night, the son of Corona Czech finished second to the razor sharp Hard Hitting in the $495,000 race before being turned out until the trials to the Golden State Million Futurity on October 18. Jimmy Delivers needed the race badly on that night - he broke poorly and didn't really show much run until the very end - and he figures to have a sharper mind in the Corona Chick.
Trainer Justin Clark describes Blue Piranha as the best horse he's ever trained, not only because of his current form, which includes a scintillating victory in the Autumn Handicap on October 11, but also because of his outstanding potential next year.
