A visitor from California desperately rushing through THE GROVE to record the Ole Miss band playing Dixie With Love for one of the last times.

Maybe if everyone promised to sing "Ole Miss Will Win the Game" instead of "The South Will Rise Again" the stupid school president will let theband play "Dixie With Love" again.

I am deeply moved...I was in the band, in this very video, playing the trumpet. This was a beatiful song and you are one of the lucky people who got to hear it, one of the last times we played it. Thank you so much for coming all the way from Cali to hear us play this awesome song, and thank you for video taping it so we could all enjoy it again and again. And this was also the last year the director (Mr. Wilson) was the head band director, he was great and will be greatly missed!

@hhscatfish05 The current version of "Dixie" sucks in comparison (no insult intended to the band). Being from the left coast, I know people (some are my friends) who have negative and incorrect views of the south. I've let them see and hear my video and they all agree that, if your going to play "Dixie" at all, then the "Dixie With Love" version is the more beautiful and representative of "healing" and "inclusion". Can't wait for the school president to ban "Rebels" from the team name.

they can still play "dixie" but they made them stop playing "from dixie with love" which really stinks cause it is such a beautiful melody.

@cmhennes1 Thanks for that info. I was just completed my annual visit during for the Georgia game and heard the band play the new version. It really absolutely sucks. When I come next year, I'll just leave when the band begine to play it. Maybe that's a good idea, get everyone to temporarily leave.

@cosel69 the university "officially" changed the words to From Dixie With Love to "to hell with L-S-U" in hopes that it would prevent students/fans from chanting "the south will rise again" during the song. That was quite unsuccessful and they just kept shouting TSWRA anyway forcing it to be removed from the band's playlist. It is a shame along with the removal of Colonel Reb, but it is the unfortunate world we live in today. My thoughts on this issue....: The South Will Rise Again! Period.
