When someone is at that point into their depression, if they do think of their family, it is actually more in the way of thinking that they would be better of without him/her. I know, I have been there. I still suffer with depression and have since I was a child. I am now 41. I know it isn't logical, but when you are that depressed your thoughts are not logical and we know we put a lot of pressure on our loved ones. The ones that stick around anyway,

I can tell you what goes through the mind of a person who commits suicide, you feel there is no hope, no chance, no way to go on with the struggles. You can pray & pray & pray and when God forsakes you it is then you realize you have no one & the one way to get relief is to end it all, not everyone who commits suicide is crazy, they are human beings who can't go on no matter what ....... They slip away pass the point of return & since we are going to die anyway you just may figure what the hel

HE WAS VERY BRAVE TO GO THAT WAY...RIP.

Very empathetic response to the family.
Nobody will ever know what drove him to this, but I can only compare it to the people who jumped from the WTC on Sept. 11. The agony was so intense they wanted to escape it at any cost, even though it meant certain death..
I think that's how depression is for some people. It gets to a point where they'll do anything to escape the pain.
It's also like cancer--a horrible disease that many survive and other don't.
RIP Michael

He really missed the point, and with his mom being a real Christian, if she was. "Blessed are they who mourn..." this is a critical step towards meeting God and becoming born again. This is a trial. He didn't overcome. He didn't need a counselor or a shrink or Prozac, he needed to understand that this is the first level before meeting God.

He was a homosexual, and in the Mormn world the elders tell you your better off committing suicide.

@thepenrev you are very welcome. I suffer from depression and borderline personality disease so I know what it's like to want to give in to suicide. I have an awesome husband and 2 wonderful sons, and when I am at my lowest, I try to picture them and what it would do to them. It is such a horrible issue to be contemplating at any age.
This person did a very nice job choosing his words carefully, and without judgment, speak in empathy of Michael, Marie, and the whole family. Suicide is so misunderstood and unless you have been there yourself, you can't criticize a person's reasons for doing so. May Michael and all who choose suicide for relief of a life of pain, rest in eternal peace and may God be with you.

I have been a fan for over 30 years and it was devasting to me that one of her son's had Killed himself by jumping! I was shocked! He needed PROFESSIONAL" help and he did not have to be dead today! I love Marie and her family but I wish instead of just rehab she could have seen if how deep he was depressed! I say this because My son Adam had been depressed since he was 17 and we got him help. He still has a Psychatrist and a Pychologist and is doing fine!
