They are Not an American company. They go after local mom and pop company's ( That is documented in there business plan ) in the United States and put them out of business.

they don't tell you that they charge you and alot of it is sold at near value, i offer to clean out homes for free, free, free,,,, and i take everything to a local fleamarket and lay it all out, most of it no matter the higher values gets sold for no more than a dollar!!!!,,,,,,, 1-800-got-junk is like wal-mart..... ruining the little man

Clearly, most of you have had bad experiences with 1-800-Got-Junk?. I have worked there for five years now and I think they are great. We do donate the junk we get, recycle it and we pay the extra to deactivate the frion in the refridgerators. We do go to the dump to get rid of the things that can't be recycled or donated but we are very responsible about it. If you don't want to pay the money and you want to get rid of it yourself, that is fine. You don't need to use us!

And we were told NOT to contact the customer whose stuff it was. Not to mention being told to pretty much lie up front to the customers face. To tell them we donate clothes, furniture, and dishes etc to charity. bullshit. It all went to the company's OWN SHOP and owners house, Where they sold it for more money. serious money. We had another job at that customers house where we found the iphones, we were told not to say anything about them and deny seeing them if asked.

I also worked for this company for almost 3 years. We cut the freon and let it leak out into the environment on EVERY SINGLE fridge we got, just so the recycle yard would take it so they could get their money. We were also told anything that is found on the trucks after the job is done is company property, including money, phones, jewelry, etc. And I'm not talking about crappy stuff, I mean wedding rings, hundreds of dollars in pockets from clothes, and notibly 2 iphone 3g's still in box.

Some of it goes to the dump if its really junk. Why don't they RECYCLE it?? Even wood can be turned into electricity, it is possible to recycle over 98% of all junk with today's technology and knowledge. At the rate charged by Got Junk, they should be more about recycling than they are now. There are companies out there like Recyconstruction that charge far less than Got Junk and recycle everything. Some companies are ethical enough to not dump it.

I agree with the previous comments. I used them once and they totally overcharged me. Much better to get the stuff to Goodwill, etc. Or recycle it yourself.

I used to work for 800-got-junk and we never donated anything to charity. We would give metal to the be recycled but only because it got him money. Not to mention my boss was verbal abusive and emotionally abusive. Which is why I left.
