I've been asked why I love British Trains all my life from friends and family. Now I have a reason to show them! Boy how i would have loved to be on the footplate!

Being a Female and living along side main lines, this world would be a lot worse off without Stanier Engines. What would you all do for exitement then?.The more Stanier`s for me the better. Keep posting good quality Stanier Videos. Bring em on.!!!.

Is it just me, or did the bridge catch fire at 1:00?

This is exactly the reason why steam engine are without a doubt the best traction in the country. Great shot!
The captions suggest the train should have had assistance. This was never the plan - the train was only 6 coaches so that 5690 would have no problems with the gradient. She went over the top in fine style!
Lovely sound and, for hand-held, not bad pictures. Not sure it _quite_ justifies "awsome" and "brilliant" comments. ;-)

@SteamAgePictures The tour timings and engine working will be found on the UK steam info site (it appears Youtube won't let you post links to web pages as I tried and got an error message!! Go to uksteam. info, then to tours for 2006, and click on the link for the "Excursion" on 25th March. Its all there
GWR hall 4965 was booked to be attached to the rear at Worcester for the run to Wsahwood Heath then on to Tyseley

Just found this video, been passing the URL around everywhere I can! Truely great piece of film, the 'dusk' timing simply adds to it.
I'm assumning that 5690 made it to the top with no problem?
BTW its on record that Galatea once took 14 up the Lickey unassisted due to the two bankers failing because of priming, the bankers only caught up again almost at the top (see Terry Essery's book 'Saltley Firing Days').
Only criticism. Shame its not 10 secs longer, and its a bit low res.

In actual fact the video was made by an accident of circumstances and not on purpose! I had gone to see the train at Ashchurch but it was running early and was passing through just as I arrived so, rather then go home with nothing, I went on to Bromsgrove to see it there. Had it been 15 minutes later there would not have been enough light to shoot anything!
And I must get a tripod for the camera sometime :)
