Last night I installed a new video card into my computer (EVGA GeForce 8400 GS 512MB) which happens to include a TV-OUT option. Well, that comes in handy seeing how I have been needing a new monitor as my old one is over 5+ years old and it's color is going out.

So, new Video card with TV-OUT, and a spare TV that never gets watched = new computer monitor!

Oh yeah, Victoria is likely going to kill me for showing her IM, but alas all you pervs out there! That's NOT her real screen name.. although im sure if you asked nice enough she would give it to you! =)

  • DVI to HDMI, do you lose any quality? just wondering :0

  • @THATS1CK Nope.. well, not enough to notice anyway. It's actually really sharp and clear.

  • umm huh?

What the hell is tv out?

Why not just hook it up by DVI or HDMI or hell even VGA?

  • @ZDSGroup Because that particular video card didn't have HDMI. It was VGA / DVI / and S-Video out. I Used S-Video. Because I didn't have a VGA-VGA cord or a DVI-HDMI cable. I have a different card now that only has DVI (x2) and am now using a DVI-HDMI conversion cable.

  • I just ordered this card from Dell. Was the install easy? I'm upgrading a Dell e521.

  • Yep, was easy as 1,2,3. Didn't even have to go into my BIOS / CMOS and disable on-board. The system disabled it for me. All I did was put it in, turn it on and Windows 7 found the drivers for me. I've since went up to a 9400GT instead (little stronger) But the 8400GS was a pretty darn good card. I put it in my other system and still use it as well.

  • Consider unlocking the windows taskbar and moving it to the side and then downloading the Opera browser, which lets you move tabs to the side as well. This will free up space at the top and bottom.
