Jerry Senior from Brampton calls in to discuss the Lampard situation. He starts to critisise Lampard by saying he has a adequate first touch, a passable passer who has no pace and the game seems to pass him by. Whilst this is going on, Steve Claridge starts to make noises to which Gary the host notices. Claridge then is shown on screen looking disturbed and asks if someone can stop him please. Gary then says no and tells the caller to carry on and to not take any notice of Grumpy! The camera continues on a disturbed Claridge. Gary then decides he has to jump in by saying Lampard was voted 2nd in the World/European player of the year. Claridge then says how can you talk about someone like that, you are so far off the mark. Peter Beagrie then says he can guarantee you 15-20 goals a season to which the caller says he agrees to but only when he is in his own comfort zone of domestic football. Gary then decided to move on as his boys are getting upset and he doesn't like that. He tells Grumpy to calm down and relax.
@MrStratus i didnt like the fact Scott parker got it and i honestly hated terry as captain, just hate the guy in general but yeah. Scott parker bet to not be captain for euros, hes a great player but not a captain

@19Wylds95 well being a chelsea fan i still think it should be Terry :) but if not then it has to go to Gerrard, or possibly to a younger player who can be the captain for many years to come, someone like Joe Hart would be ideal, phil jones maybe, but he's gonna have to wait a few years before he's an England regular so there would be little point giving it to him now. But for the euros 'd give it to Gerrard personally

@MrStratus well now that i think about it, they are quite different players. Scholes can only really pass but i guess lampard is actually abit more complete. Everyone's entitled to their opinions though, how much do you think Lampard will be involved in the Euros this summer? And this is abit offf topic but i'd like to hear a neutrals view on who should get the england armband for the euros

@19Wylds95 i didnt literally mean kicked out the team, but both Lampard and Gerrard's presence forced him into international retirement as Scholes realised he would be a substitute from then on. I'm happy with people saying that Gerrard is better then Lampard but I refuse to admit that Scholes - at his best - was better than Lamps at his best. Scholes gets the old age sympathy (which he does deserve credit for) but it deludes people if they think he was better than frank.

@Arsenal02071 much better than gerrard? You were high when you said that right?

@MrStratus im no united fan but i think youll find scholes retired, he wasnt kicked out. Lampard is actually in my opinion quite overrated, he isnt needed for england anymore although chelsea still need his positional play. Gerrard has always been the better player but it isnt fair how Lampard has been completely thrown out of the england squad and chelsea squad. He was still a very good player, never at the same standard as gerrard and scholes

@boggedmaffus at 33 he's doing bloody well to still be in the squad! scholes retired when he was 29 because he was kicked out of the team.and if u noticed that in that england team they played two holding midfielders, lampard is not a holding midfielder, plus capello said himself, he picked the team based on club performances this season, lampard hasnt had the best of starts. lampard is massively underrated by england fans and its ridiculous, he holds the joint record for ENG player of the year

@MrStratus OK, sure, maybe that's why he finally got dropped by an England manager tonight ;)

@boggedmaffus well taking your footballing views from match of the day is perhaps one of the stupidest things to do in the world. they show 3 minutes of attacks, they'll never show lamps cutting up the opposition or making great interceptions. the view you hav is very ignorant but to say u dont see much of i can forgive u, but you should start watching him for a full 90 minutes, even at 33 he's still an all time great

@MrStratus I only see him in England games and on Match of the Day but in the last 10 years, I can't remember him making a tackle. Great awareness around the box and great finisher though.
