why did i expect to see them kiss and leave together in the end??? i just got my hopes up and they plummeted right now, great story and i love yule brynner so ill forgive the lack of embrace

I've only seen the Disney version before, i loved this version so much better!! but i guess it was a good thing to see the Disney version first, now i understand that she left because she did not want that life, she wanted a life with Bounine :)

great movie! By the way, the dress she wears in Don Bluth´s animated version resembles very much to this one. I like those coincidences ^_^

One of my fave films For the person who asked about the Orthodox anthem at the beginning , it is for Easter/Pascha. The words are "Thy Resurrection, O Christ our Savior, the Angels in Heaven sing. Grant to us on the earth, to worship Thee with a Pure Heart". It is sung like in the movie during the threefold procession around the Church I LOVE Helen Hayes as the Dowager Empress. "the play is over! Go home!!!"

I love and dislike the ending. As much as the romantic in me wants to see Bounine and Anna together in an all too anticipated kiss scene. This ending was so well done, very cheeky and Dowager Empress was just so brilliant in her last words ;)
