I've been a customer of TD Bank (formerly Bank of New Hampshire) for 8 years. I didn't have a major problem with my checking account until about 2008 when TD Bank put their ridiculous overdraft rearrangement "protection" causing me upwards to $510 at the worst because they charged me with a setoff of $984 for my car loan. They have been screwing me for the last two years and have charged me over $8000 in overdraft fees.
All it is was a money funnel designed to take your money because they have possession of it and claim that they are giving you "protection" from embarrassment. People have been facing "embarrassments" for years when credit cards have reached their limits or checks bounce when did the banks get so conscientious about us keeping face in public???
This really was all confirmed for me once I was allowed to OPT-OUT when I logged into my online checking account and the option was made available to me. Low and behold no more overdraft fees for me!
