Debunking Peta's mistruths about Oregon's animal testing facility:
http://www.stopanimaltests.com/f_onprc_monkey_abuse.asp

USDA cleared Oregon of any mistreatment. It's facilities put animal welfare as a highest prirority.
http://blog.oregonlive.com/breakingnews/2007/12/federal_inspectors_clear_oreg...

What we see:
Two distressed looking monkeys filmed Oregon Primate Center (ONPRC). Monkeys just like this were filmed at the same lab by a Peta Infiltrator (check my other videos)

What happens after:
Monkeys at the facility are not usually like this - they are playful and well treated as soon as they become used to the presence of the camera

Explanation:
A camera (which for a monkey looks like a large eye) close to the cage appears as a threat. When the monkeys realise it is not, they return to acting normally

  • Give me a break. You really expect people to believe that all of these undercover investigations are done with visible cameras? Additionally, the monkey isn't behaving that way only because they see a camera. Unless you expect people to believe that the researchers had train them to act in a certain way if they see visible cameras.

  • @Casadh Many are done with hidden cameras - some are done with visisble ones. In oregon the person took the footage (while working) pretending to be doing a study on animal behaviour.

Large cameras scare many animals because they don't see a mechanical device - they see a giant eye looking at them.

  • The cameras used are hidden the animals will not see them, otherwise the investigators would be kicked out of these tortue chambers, who ever created the video need to rethink.

  • @MrTheBigGuy Actually in Oregon the infiltrator was pretending to be studying aspects of animal welfare, and set up full video cameras (not secret cams).

  • Peta needs to die

  • @MrTheBigGuy When you watch these vids, be aware where the camera is and the person doing the abusing. 9 times out of 10 it's the person holding the camera. These vids try to make it worse than it is. I have seen some vids that the person holding the camers is hurting the monkey and the other techs are telling them to stop it.

Don't be suckerd in. Abuse does happen, but not like these PETA vids make it out to be.

  • @friscolane There is no abuse, at least not in federally-funded universities. I can't speak for the private sector, because I don't know their practices, but even there, strict USDA-enforced regulations are in place. Most abused monkeys in primate shelters come from supposedly animal-loving pet owners.

  • @Casadh It seems, after seeing thousands of videos, that monkeys do have an issue with cameras. If not caged, they charge the camera. I believe it's the whole staring thing that challenges them. Remember that Travis the Chimp went for the eyes.

That said, I do believe the abuse, but I don't like PETA using the same footage for each investigation.

  • @retardedkids102 And why is that?

  • @LondonProphet london, you are just another idiot from a dark place and hope you and all you love die of cancer, aids. try and use that muscle between your fucking ears.

  • @retardedkids102 you need to get an education RETARD!

  • @LondonProphet Humans born in captivity are used to it as well. They have no instincts you see. They actually beg for enslavement.

  • @Casadh But when watching films of cobras I have noticed they will spit venom at the camera lenses, and they instinctively direct their venom at what they believe to be eyes. While not the same animals, I don't see how it is so farfetched to think that a monkey could possibly believe a cameria is some weird eyeball as well.

  • How would you like to be in a fu@cking cage that small with a metal buttom, they can test human cell tissue, animals systems are not the same as ours, they bleed just like we do. So let's do the testing on you if it's so great

  • How would you like to be in a f#

  • One thing that you disbelievers keep bringing up is the monkey seeing the camera. Most of the monkeys react to humans coming into the room, knowing that they will be pulled from the cage, not the camera. When they settle down, they don't pace like you are led to believe.

PETA took over 100 hours of a tape and made a 20 minute tape out of it. What do you think they are going to use? The people treating the monkeys kind?

PETA tries to lead you by the nose, don't let them.
