How a Ninja Turtle-loving kid wound up as a Catholic priest.

Father Andrew Trapp is the priest at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Blythewood, SC. He gave this talk to the "Why Catholic?" young adult group in Charleston in May 2011.

  • Father, just because I am curious, what are your personal views on the Protestant religions, such as United Methodism?

And also, I love the guinea pig videos. Very innovative! :)

  • @Wingdude88YT I do not know much about United Methodism in particular. In general, though, our non-Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ share a tremendous amount of God's truth with us. However, the whole reason I am Catholic is because I believe that the Catholic faith is the fullness of God's truth, with all of the gifts that God intended for us to have on our journey of faith.

  • I am the embodiment of reason, of intelligence, of critical thought. I stand against the dogma of God and all other dogmas. I stand for the exploration of new ideas and new perspectives in the pursuit of truth. I hate God's kingdom, his sadism, his demand for slavish conformity and obedience, his psychotic rage at any display of independent thinking and behavior. I AM FREE!!!!!!

  • @LXuXcXiXfXeXr As one Christian author once wrote, "Merely having an open mind is nothing; the object of opening the mind, as of opening the mouth, is to shut it again on something solid." The real God is not like you describe, and he's worth finding!

  • Okay, priest. Tell me WHERE in your bible it tells us to be celibate to plesae God. It doesn't. God says that it is not good for man to be alone. Tell me where in the bible it says that we should call a priest father. It doesn't. It says only call your God in heaven Father.Tell me where in the bible it says we should have idols of saints in our churches. It doesn't. The first commandment says not to HAVE any graven images. You be a priest, and I'll be a Christian following the bible to the letter.

  • @NewYearAustralia2009 Hello, these are great questions you raise! We Catholics have good, biblical answers for all of them! You can read some on Catholic Bridge . com

  • It is a candid and a great inspiration story. keep it up Fr. Peter. In deed, your is a fulfilment of God word in Jeremiah 3: 15 "and I will give you shepherds after my own heart who will feed you with knowledge and understanding".
