The HEHS symphonic winds are proud to present their performance of "The Witch and the Saint." This was the recording taken at the spring 2007 concert in May. HEHS was able to take home #1 in the IHSA state band competition with both the performance of this song and "English Folk Song Suite."

  • OMG i did this 3 years ago for festival got all superiors and took it to disneyland

  • Great song, fun to play, my band is performing it tonight as a matter of fact. :-P

    Alto Saxes for life.

This song to me sounds like a mix between the soundtracks from Wicked, Legends of the Fall, and a sprinkling of Pirates of the Caribbean.

It seemed kinda slow @ 4:50, but other than that it sounded great.

  • You can tell this particular recording was missing Euphonium BIG TIME. D:

  • i did this piece last year as a freshman. we played it for our end of the year concert, the mass band concert and it was good enough to take to graduation. it is an amazing piece, probably my favorite that i have played in 5 years of playing. there are a quite a bit of squeaks tho, almost if they were getting too excited.

  • :D I played this in the 2010-11 HEHS symphonic winds!!!! It was the most epic song ever!!

  • @jeewalk That's my part! :D ....not in this recording, but for my band.

  • The concert band that I am in is playing this song, it's one of my favorites out of all the songs we play!

  • haha my band director tells the timpani player to sound obnoxious. the timpani here sounds incredibly obnoxious. LOVE IT!

  • this sounds very professional indeed! a little intonation problem but very minimal! very very professional!!! fantastic tone!

  • :D I cant wait to play this and perform it in a week and 3 days!!:D

  • Definitely brings back memories. Can't believe it has been 4 years since I played this song! Definitely miss being a part of that drumline!

  • im playing this now in 8th grade so we r playing the shorter version of it, but its still my favorite song to play
