Russel has noted that when clues and references appear, it is a sign that something is returning, like all the other times.

The four knocn beat was heard quite a few times in series 4, and ultimately meant something. Now there are two things to look out for: four knocks and '666'.

People have been speculating why there is a possesed Ood in the specials, too. It all fits nicely with the clues and references.

Though keep it mind: Bad Wolf clues never stopped after the first series, then Bad Wolf returned.

Torchwood clues led to the introduction of Torchwood.

Clues of the Master's return, and it happened.

The Stolen Planets all turned out to be clues to The Stolen Earth.

There has been MANY 666 clues (moreso, constantly mentioned) spanning three series, and now... a *possesed Ood* in the final specials, not to mentioned use of the spacesuit from The Satan Pit, too.
