Julie, a lonely fourteen year old, and her family move to an Oregon seaside town after her dad loses his job. Her parents struggle with his unemployment and their own marital problems. Her Grandpa Jack and his friend, Standing Elk, seem to be the only ones with time for Julie.

After a mystical encounter with a huge Elk on the beach, Julie finds an old Spanish gold coin. She hears about a treasure legend and the Elk becomes her watchful guide as starts her search for the gold. The legend talks about Spanish sailors who buried a chest of gold on Neahkahnie Mountain over 300 years ago. The Spanish killed a Slave and buried him with the treasure to frighten the Indians away.

Julie searches for the buried gold and discovers more than she's bargained for. Her adventures and discoveries highlight the most exciting summer of her life.

  • It will be released on DVD in May by Maitland Primrose. The name has been changed to "The Legend of Tillamook's Gold."

  • my chemestry teacher is a actor in this movie!

  • Karara Muhoro is his name. He is the African slave in the back story of the treasure. A wonderful guy and a good actor. He's from Kenya but served for a number of years in the US Army and teaches school on Los Angeles.

  • Looks like this is a good family movie. I enjoyed the little clip I saw. I wish it would hurry and get to the Coliseum Theater in Tillamook. Please some soon!

  • I know this story well, having researched it . I've written a song about it which I would love to invite everybody to listen to, called "The Treasure Legend of Neahkahnie Mountain" or, as people refer to it as "The Pirate Song." This place is so beautiful, I wasn't too surprized to find out there was an old Native Legend associated with it. Let me k now if you like my song or what you think.

  • wow i live in the coast range and we go to manzinia alot and i hought "wow that hill in the backround looks familiar, " and then it hit me that thats the beach we always go to every time!

  • Tillamook? This place is okay, not much to do but the holidays are fun here. Schools put on events, and Tillamook has gatherings, which can be fun.
