  • do you rub in between coats?

  • I recently purchased a can of Zinser Shellac. I noticed that the "cutting chart" that was on the back of older cans was missing. The new cans state - DO NOT THIN. I tried contacting Zinser, but never got a response. I would think if all you are getting is a more diluted product, the price would come down - not the case. Every video I watch recommends cutting the Shellac with alcohol. Right now, its like brushing crazy glue on to your skin - dries incredibly fast . Any thoughts/comments?

  • It dries pretty well in 24 hours, but full cure is 3-5 days.

  • Three to five days to dry? Really? I've always only waited about 24 hours. I tend to go for about 8-10 coats which gives me a decent film after sanding.

I really need to get myself some shellac wet, and some shellac flat (for carvings and such).
