Japanese Koto practice 4 六段の調べ rokudan no shirabe 320x240

日本伝統楽器「箏（琴）」の代表的な古典曲「六段の調べ」の4段から6段を弾きます。チューニングがちょっと狂ってます。ご愛嬌（ではすまされない？）。
My son is giving a performance on the koto. The program is a series of movements from the 4th to 6th in the "Rokudan-no-Shirabe" composed of 6 movements, which is one of the most famous traditional Japanese koto-tunes. He, who is now eight years of age, has recently passed the first license in "Sawai-Soukyokuin" school as a youngest boy in history. As to the performance this time, I regret to say that this koto had to be out of tune a little.

The instrument is not tuned up yet properly so it sounds a little "off", but this is just a practice for the fingering technique, strength and speed.  But yes the notes are off and not properly tuned yet.

This young koto'ist is really good! As far as dedication, the koto requires an incredible amount of it, strength building and commitment.

The tuning is strange? If the tuning is correct for this composition then it is not strange. When tempered (western) music first came out it must have sounded strange - the major 3rd has an error of about 14 cents (14/100's of a semitone)!

The koto surely looks like a difficult to master instrument... How much dedication does it take to get good at?
