  • I have a male button quail, he lives in a 20L fish tank, i noticed that he has some area where he lost a little bit of feathers? what's causing this? he only eats gamebird food

  • @kev485 I'm sorry, I really don't know. You'd have to ask a Vet that deals with birds. I don't actually have any myself.

  • where is this shot, out of interest? I'm curious...I might have been there.

  • @m0thland It was shot at the Magic Wings Butterfly place in Massachusetts

  • forget the quail, there was a Tiny Brachiosaurus RIGHT THERE!

  • @waterkeeper03 Bahahaha!

  • @MATANUI720 They fly when startled straight up and then out they only fly for short distances(30-50 yards) and only when frightened but they definitely do fly

  • @fatsuru Yes your right, and it is important for any one keeping quails to have a soft roof or some netting, because if they hit the roof of a rabbit hutch for example they break their necks! Friend of mine lost 32 quails in one go when there was a thunderstorm, they all got spooked and flew straight up breaking their necks on the Aviary Roof, it was very sad what happend. They fly straight up at 45mph so fast! Only when spooked enough though!

  • SO CUTE!!

  • @organicsab they dont fly

  • @kev485 Maybe he needs a Female

  • @kev485 Does he live alone? If not, that the other quails may be pecking him. If he does live alone, he might be stressed and preening too much. Either that or he is bored...try introducing some plants and hiding places into his tank (like a small open sided box) .

  • @kev485

    he may be just molting.

  • @kev485 it could be mites. you can buy avian mite spray to kill them. but he should have a shallow dish of sand to take a bath in. i used finch grit for my buttons.
