This is how you can remove and replace valve guide seals with the head still on the engine. Normally you have to have the head off so you can fit the valve spring compressor on to the head of the valve. I had heard of this method but never tried or seen it done before. The only special tool is a piece of string.

Watch the video and see the "Essex Red Neck" at work :-)

  • Did it stop smoking after a while since you've changed the valve seals? Please respond. Thanks.

  • @cgrobe21 NO :-( still smoked like a chimney LOL. I recon the oil rings are warn. I have sold the piece of Site now.

  • i bought an impact driver one time ,and the first time i hit it with a hammer it smashed into a million pieces ,lets just say ive never bought another one !

  • @badslabber The trick is to give the screw a good whack with the hammer first. Tends to loosen it up a bit.

  • EPIC video, wish my head was compatible with that valve spring compressor :( i need to change my valve springs :(

  • @Ricerguy You just have to make a compressor that is compatible :-).

  • Brave Brave man if i was doing that it would be just my luck that one of the spring retainer clips would fall in the head and down into the sump

  • Good work man. You should only push new seals a bit more with some little tube of proper diameter.

  • Just a great video man, thanks for showing us, me and one friend will change my seals on my zetec 16v too soon, thanks to your video :)

  • what would happen if i were to replace my valves without replacing the seals?

  • The throttle has to be open or no air can come into the combustion chamber to compress and you will get a low reading.

  • I believe that screwdriver with magnetic tips can make your job easier. Anyway I like your video

  • Best Video Ever !!!!
