Vehicle electronics have an impact on even the most basic services. Maintenance reminders have to be reset after an oil change and steering angle sensors may require recalibration after a routine alignment. Even fixing a flat tire can involve a complex electronic system called TPMS, or "Tire Pressure Monitoring System". In this month's "The Trainer", Motor Age technical editor Pete Meier shares some tips on dealing with TPMS while performing routine tire/wheel services.
Many thanks to the automotive and media programs at the Pinellas Technical Education Center, and to Bartec for all of their assistance. We also want to thank them, M-B USA, and BMW for help with the illustrations. Special thanks to Peter Scondras, our student director/producer!
