this is a little test that I've done at home. is based on the perspective projection of 2d texture over 3d geometry using a 3d .camera in maya

  • its awesome man, do you think maya is better than soft image to create backgrounds? i know nothing about them but i want to sart learning one of those

  • love how that looks. Can this be made with just after effects and doing the drawings in photoshop? or do i need maya?

  • Well you can do something like this using only photoshop and after effects. but it will look like a standar 2d background traveling. if you want to give real prespective and depth to de scene you need to do a perspective mapping using 3d software like maya, 3dMax or softimage or something symilar

  • Very interesting.

Just one question, when the camera moves some parts of the geometry without texture get exposed, how do you solve that problem?

  • the way to solve de problem is linking the trasparency chanel of the psd file into the trasparency of the material you use to map the geometry. prety simple
