Barbie, perhaps the most famous doll in the world turns 50 this year. As her parent company, Mattel, plans a year-long celebration, it's facing difficult times. (Feb. 4)

I think you're right, but I also think Mattel has gone more over into the collecting side of the business than making quality dolls for little girls to play with. When it comes to the collectible barbie, there are thousands of different ones to choose from and at a much higher price.
