The first half of my first attempt at making a video diary. This is a rainy day of carp fishing a section of the Blackstone River in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. I haven't had much luck here this year so it was nice to get some solid action, even though none were huge carp. I ended the day with 5 total averaging 11.8 pounds and the biggest coming in at 17 pounds 1 ounce.

  • Thanks for the quick response. I will keep checking out all your bids for info. I weigh my carp in my net is that ok? I see that you use a mat and a special bag. I don't want to harm them.

  • @MrChickwin The net is fine. I have the bag and mat because i spend most of my time fishing for and catching big fish, and I want to give them the best care I can. Many anglers put the scale hook right into the gills of the fish, this is bad. Weighing them in the net or a weigh bag just minimizes risk of injury to the fish. The mat is usefuls to protect their slime coat, protect the fish from debris like glass/rocks/sticks that could cause injury etc.

  • @BlackstoneCarp My mat is from a company called CHUB and ordered online, you can however get a blue mat that is used under sleeping bags from stores like walmart dicks etc for under 10 dollars typically. Cut off a 3 foot section and it is an easy/cheap alternative if you plan to spend time fishing for carp. Is it necessary? Maybe not, but it does both protect the fish as well as help keep them looking good ( ie no missing scales, torn fins etc that can happen from dragging them on the ground.)

  • I would like to fish with you, you seem very well prepared. I love carp fishing , but I have alot to learn.

  • @MrChickwin Thanks, glad you stopped by and enjoyed the videos. While I respect the sentiment, I cannot promise anything. Lotta people I'd like to fish with but sadly not enough time to fish with em all. Ya never know though and perhaps sometime we will get together on the banks. If not hopefully I can at least answer some questions or what not to help out.

  • nice vid. gd to see a angler with respect and using a mat. america looks sweet to fish.youll enjoy england,

  • @14kip Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah we have some amazing waters to fish..sadly many people don't respect the fish :(. I hope to make a trip across the pond one day.
