Yep, as you describe it, the suggestion is that all that is needed is to get the "right" people in there and everything will be honkydory. Never mind that Mr. Smith during his tenure will become as corrupt as those all ready there and it wouldn't take long before someone would seek to overturn his position, based on the "common good" or some other jazz. It perpetuates the idea that all we need is the right people to go and therefore lulls the masses to sleep again after every fit.

As far as politicians go i would say that in some cases certainly "Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely"
But i would not say all fall into that category like Mike Huckabee for instance & Sarah Palin
My biggest point here was that i wish that men who swore they were against something ala the health c are bill stood their ground (i say dems because no conservative voted for it)
