In this home recording from 1967,Sandy polishes the rough diamonds soon to become masterpieces for Fairport Convention.

  • A door opened, and for a few brief years we heard the sound of heaven.

Oh what we lost! What we lost, when so soon it closed again!

  • Some great nostalgic moments on this audio recording. Miss her very much.

  • What a gem!

67 was such a good year for many reasons and Sandy, Annie, Maddy and June, all in their prime, made those times even better.

  • I thank you for uploading these gems from then. Sandy Denny's voice and heart are truly timeless and priceless. Years go by, sure, but my heart still opens more, and memories come back from times long, long ago, and further back than I can name the time. She and Fairport, and the Pentangle (and recently Anne Briggs) have given my life light and happiness and clarity beyond my day's reward. Peace

  • the Lady.

  • truly awesome, the poor recording does indeed make the performance more intimate. I never knew her but sometimes daydream that I did. I am not a massive fan of all her work but several songs really stand out, these two in particular. Folk music today is a vibrant and popular place, it would be less so without her influence I think

  • Lovely. I somehow think the just-Sandy-and-the-guitar (from what little I've heard so far, where she seems at her best) and even the slightly fuzzy recording adds to it somehow.

  • Memories memories memiories who does know where the time go's, thank you or the post I thinkI'll liste to it again to see was it eally as good as I remember it

  • thanks for posting this thankyou

  • Wow, spiritual Sandy.

  • A pair of rare recordings indeed. The loss of this voice to the world was so sad. 30 odd years later I still feel the emotion of loss at hearing her angelic voice.
