http://www.davidlynchfoundation.org - ADHD medication or Transcendental Meditation? To the contrary covers the story:

Transcription:
"Behind the headlines: Medication or Meditation? According to the Centers for Disease Control more than four million American children are diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or, ADHD. Use of psychotropic meditations in this population is controversial. To the Contrary takes a look at how Transcendental Meditation, or T-M, can help some young people to cope with ADHD without medication."

"This may seem like your typical middle school classroom, but twice a day everything comes to a stop. These students aren't napping, they're meditating.

Zach - "It gives us a break during class so we can rest, and not continue on with the pressure and stuff..."

Cuyler - "It kind of makes me feel more relaxed and less mad and angry."

Hameed - "If I've had a bad morning, I can get a lot of stuff off my mind."

"Zach, Cuyler and Hameed all have ADHD. They attend Kingsbury day school in Washington DC - a school for children with language base disabilities. Everyday, classes at Kingsbury stop for two Transcendental Meditation, or T-M, sessions. Researchers are finding that T-M may do more than just relax the children, it may actually decrease disabling aspects of ADHD.

Sarina Grosswald, Ed.D, Director, T-M study at Kingsbury day school - "Working with these kids, they're having difficulty concentrating and keeping their attention to start with, And T-M is the exact opposite. It doesn't require that they focus or that they control the mind in any way. So it's a perfect match for students who have difficulty with ADHD or attention, concentration, that kind of thing."

  • A very powerful solution to ADHD! This video should be seen by all those concerned with this problem that affects four million American children (and their families and friends.) More such videos at the David Lynch Foundation website.
