Maximo Park - Acrobat - Barrowland Ballroom

The fabulous Maximo Park played Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom on 7th October 2009. For this number, Acrobat, the band is augmented by a four-piece (?) brass section. This Flipcam video was taken from the rear of the hall, actually behind the sound and lighting desks. Even so, the Flipcam microphone struggles with the sheer volume produced by the PA, and the camera's brick-wall limiter cuts in brutally to keep the sound from overloading. The problem seemed to be mainly the bass drum which was given huge presence in the mix. Not helped that I chose to stay at the back wall. But this was an oasis of calm, and was easier to (try and) hold the Flipcam steady. Great fun.

I wish I could have been there. What a contrast; at Glasgow Barrowlands Lukas played the (?) Hohner hand-held mouth-blown one-handed organ (?) [not a mouth-organ, if you know what I mean] if I'm correct. I was way back in the hall so while it was a great view, the fine detail of what was happening on stage was hard to pick out.

That's OK! I saw them at the RAH

last Friday,they were really fantastic.

The show wasn't filmed unfortunately,so I've been watching the youtube footage.

to Acrobat which was the highlight of the night and rendered everyone speechless.
