Capitalism Is The Crisis: Radical Politics in the Age of Austerity examines the ideological roots of the "austerity" agenda and proposes revolutionary paths out of the current crisis. The film features original interviews with Chris Hedges, Derrick Jensen, Michael Hardt, Peter Gelderloos, Leo Panitch, David McNally, Richard J.F. Day, Imre Szeman, Wayne Price, and many more!

The 2008 "financial crisis" in the United States was a systemic fraud in which the wealthy finance capitalists stole trillions of public dollars. No one was jailed for this crime, the largest theft of public money in history.

Instead, the rich forced working people across the globe to pay for their "crisis" through punitive "austerity" programs that gutted public services and repealed workers' rights.

Austerity was named "Word of the Year" for 2010.

This documentary explains the nature of capitalist crisis, visits the protests against austerity measures, and recommends revolutionary paths for the future.

Special attention is devoted to the crisis in Greece, the 2010 G20 Summit protest in Toronto, Canada, and the remarkable surge of solidarity in Madison, Wisconsin.

It may be their crisis, but it's our problem.

  • Fabian Socialists are a cancer in the world and are pure evil. Your ideas are dangerous, old, washed up, and ready for the dustbin of history.

  • @truthhasnoagenda2012 Fabian Socialists?? Haha. You may want to watch the film again, my friend. It has nothing to do with Fabian Socialism. But thank you for the most creative response to the film yet.

  • if not capitalism then what??? extremism??? dictatorship??? totalitarianism????

  • @Duongy94 I'm sorry you have such a limited imagination and knowledge of human history. If not capitalism, then one of many other forms of human association. I prefer anarchism, but various forms of socialism (not state socialism) would give people greater dignity and offer more respect for the earth. Capitalism is NOT freedom. It is quite literally killing everything (watch the film!). I encourage you to study the alternatives.

  • Thank you CapitalismCrisis for the dvd I received yesterday. I will make the copies of the dvd available to as many people as possible.I am at adding subtitles in kannada to the film. I am familiar with Naomi Klein's writings, and prof.Leo Panitch was in mysore for a talk a couple of weeks ago. thank you. vnlnarayana

  • @vnlnarayana Thank you, professor. May I ask what software you use to add subtitles? Also, I'm looking for software to create a shooting script for the film, to make it easier for people such as yourself to make subtitles in other languages. Can you recommend software for this?

  • Pt 2 The solution is to move away from the Central banks controlling the money system. They run everything from your economy, your pay, your health, all of your major media including your voting booths. Division is their greatest tactic. Paper hand counted ballots, no more private campaign finance or political favors to politicians, remove the FEDERAL reserve from the banks and finally bring back tariffs. if you don't do ALL of those you will miss the target and continue the path of slavery.

  • This movie correctly identifies the symptoms. It fails to identify the cause or the real solutions. Anarchy is NOT the answer. History shows it cannot work as Communism does not work. Human nature must be taken into account. You first have to realize we no longer have capitalism. We have crony capitalism which is a capitalism/corporatist/socialist hybrid. This video is very dangerous and ill-informed with regard to solutions.

  • @Duongy94 Well first of all, a lite answer you might accept is, a different capitalism. One that is highly regulated.

Put IMO id say democratic socialism is the way to go.

Btw capitalism loves extremism, dictatorship and totalitarianism. And hate democracy.

  • @Duongy94 A resource based economy or a barter system.

  • @Duongy94

how about participatory economics including balanced job complexes based around a resourced based economy.
