Thanks for watching! This is part 1 of 2 showing how to replace the water pump on a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with a 6.0L Vortec V8. You may want to turn the volume down at about 6:25.

My engine keeps "overheating". When I first removed the hose that goes to the lower part of the radiator, the thermostat wasn't "attached" to "that part" (sorry not sure what its called) when I removed it, just like you did at 5:02 . It was just sitting there. When I installed the new thermostat, the engine kept overheating. You think its because I didn't glue it to that part just like it shows at 5:08 ?

Sorry to take so long to answer. I've been out of town. The proper thermostat for that truck should come already attached to the thermostat housing. I wonder if you have a bad aftermarket knock-off that isn't able to open because it isn't seated correctly on the housing & pump.

Great video and info. Anyone else picture Nick Offerman as the man behind the camera?
