White House Assistant Chef Sam Kass announced today that he was asking some of Washington D.C.s finest chefs to go back to school, and we are all going to benefit from what they learn.
Kass, who has been a prominent proponent of making school lunches more nutritious, was participating in Washington at the Hyde Leadership Public Charter Schools celebration of National School Lunch Week. With the support of Share Our Strength, Kass has asked several area chefs to participate in learning tours, where they would visit school cafeterias across DC this week, have lunch with the children, and learn first-hand from both the kids and school personnel about the challenges of providing healthy school lunches.
