you know exactly what im saying youre just dancing around acknowledging it...again at an elite level, gymnastics is a very tough sport like it or leave it if you feel in danger leave if you dont then stay period.

This is such a pointless statement. So by your reasoning no criticism of the coaches is ever justified? What about the coaches who hurt or kill their athletes? Are they still being "tough"? Are the athletes "whimps" if they die? What a silly thing to say. Maybe if the coaches can't take the criticism, THEY should "go home."

Marta was NEVER in charge of Shannon Miller's eating. I think that story is bogus. Marta wasn't Shannon's personal coach nor was in charge back in 1992.

Yeah, I believe it-- Shannon Miller's mom said in her book that she got a request from Shannon to bring food when she got to Barcelona (I think this was after the training camp in France)... after one portion of the team competition, I think it was, Mrs. Miller flagged down Nunno and gave him some items (I remember one being a can of soup) and asked him why Shannon had been complaining of not getting much to eat.

Gymnasticsat such an elite level is very very difficult and parents need to know that. If your kid is a whimp and cant take it then to allow them to continue on is completely the fault of the parents..caoches are tough and if kids arent just as tough then go home...at the level of elite gymnastics it isnt cookie cutter routines and hairbows...Its ass whoopping time!!!!! so people stop bitching about coaches being too mean and tough..!!!!!

Betty was so talented. She, Kerri Strug, and Kim Zmeskal just looked beaten down at the 1992 Olympics. Betty said something like it was the first time that she remembered being truly hungry. I also remember reading that the male gymnastics smuggled in food for the girls during the Olympics because the girls weren't allowed to eat. I don't know if that's true or not- but the team definitely looked better in 1990 and 1991 than in 1992.
