My hawk, Charro

Hmmm, he sounds like an escaped imprint -- a bird imprinted on humans who will identify with humans rather than other hawks. They rarely learn how to hunt on their own and are dependent on people for food. Careful with what you feed him -- it's easy to give imprints a bad diet using meat that's too high in fats. I've seen birds develop bone disorders like rickets under those circumstances before.

@ianwestc Not necessairly. Having grown up in the woods myself have had wildlife experiences. Patience and communication or even not communicating.

Heh! 8 months ago I would have argued this point, but I had the good fortune to meet a few months ago a non-imprint red-tail who was... amazingly calm in a -convention- setting (bright lights, crowds, even pets). Had no problems with her handler touching her wherever. Most of the birds I'd known would have completely freaked out in such a setting, but she was placid as still pond. She'll eventually be released to the wild. Most amazing thing I'd ever seen.
