I find this man to be having a surprising likeness to C.S. Lewis himself. Perhaps it is where they are similar that enrages this Pullman fellow.

"surprising likeness" - what is that then? they both have grey hair? seriously there views are completely different, though Pullman does talk highly of Lewis's literary criticism

No, no - Lewis had black hair.

Perhaps I should have been more specific with their similarities: yes, their views are polar to each other, but not entirely. It's interesting to me that two bright minds both earn(ed) their bread from Oxford, impact(ed) their cultures through fantasy, have an incredibly similar writing style if you read the works of both, and pinpoint(ed) certain questions, though they came to radically opposed conclusion based on those questions. In these ways, they are similar.

In short, this Pullman fellow is in every way an appropriate rival to Lewis.

Exactly. And those who support the banning of books might find that it's THEIR books which are banned tomorrow!
