This was a traditional Jewish song written in 1923 by Samuel Steinberg and Nellie Cashman. Sammy Cahn put English lyrics to it and it became a big hit for the Andrews Sisters during WWII.
This one is new to me. Thanks so much for posting this. Never heard of the Harmony sisters before. I remember my mother singing this one around the house though with English lyrics except for the words Yussel, Yussel.
Olikohan Bruno Laakko mukana jo tässä levytyksessä? Hienostunutta salonkifoksia verrattuna Tsfasmanin räyhäkkääseen neuvostoversioon kohtalon vuonna 1939. Tämä klezmer-kappale on tainnut silloin olla suosittu kaikkialla muualla paitsi Saksassa.
