When you listen to Tabou Combo you will notice how Shoubou keeps mentioning Port -de-Paix his hometown. He is so proud of his hometown. If he had a dollar for every time he mention his hometown he would be rich.

Port-de-Paix (Pòdepè or Pòdpè in Kréyòl) is a city and the capital of the département of Nord-Ouest in Haïti on the Atlantic coast. It has a population of 250,000 (2009 census).
Formerly a large exporter of bananas and coffee, Port-de-Paix is now a centre for smuggled goods from Miami, Florida, USA.
The area around the town was given the name "Valparaíso" by Christopher Columbus after landing here on December 6, 1492 and still contains many attractive beaches and locations. A ferry operates between the town and Tortuga Island (La Tortue) situated just across the water.
The town was founded in 1665 by French filibusters, driven from Tortuga Island by the British occupiers. In 1679 the town saw the first black slave revolt. The area saw great success during the 19th century but in 1902 the town was almost entirely destroyed by fire, and never attained its former status.
Port-de-Paix is also the chief town of an arrondissement of the same name. The arrondissement consists of four communes: Port-de-Paix, Bassin Bleu, Chansolme and Tortuga Island.

Christopher Columbus has never been to Central and North America ,Panama, USA, Mexico or Canada. He had no idea that the continental land mass was there . On his last voyage he had traveled to South America. From Trinidad and Tobago to the coast of Venezuela. But Columbus has been to Shoubou's hometown Port-de-Paix.

  • Haitians are very fortunate to be able to go to a club and dance to live bands. Professional musicians not computers. We need to support our musicians. Purchase original CDs and DVDs and dont purchase bootleg CDs and DVDs. If you have been purchasing these bootlegs you should donate funds to these musicians to show that you appreciate and enjoy the music that they bring to you
